An eye plays an important role in all our lives. We use them to see the world, read, write, and many other things. Problems in the eyes can occur from childhood or when people become old. Doctors conduct various types of eye tests for different types of problems.
Here We Will Talk About All Type Of Eye Tests.
Eye Tests |
Visual Acuity Test
When a doctor checks an eye in a comprehensive test, he starts with a visual acuity test. This test is done to check the sharpness of the eye. There is a projected eye chart available at each eye clinic and hospital on which different characters are available. These characters can be random numbers, alphabets, or other characters. The font size of the characters decreases in size. The patient has to read those characters from top to bottom from a distance.
Color Blindness Test
This is a screening test, which is performed to detect hereditary color vision. This test also lets the doctors know if eyes will face any problems in the future related to color vision.
Cover Test
The condition of your eyes can be tested by various means. One of these tests is a cover test, which is the simplest one and is a very common eye test. In this test, the patient has to focus on a particular object. The doctor covers one eye and lets the other eye open to check it. The same thing is done with the second eye too. In this test, the doctor checks whether the uncovered eye has the ability to move in order to pick up the fixation target. This test will let the doctor know whether the eye has binocular problems, which can lead to eyestrain.
Ocular Motility Test
In this type of eye test, doctors check the movement of the eyes along with a moving object. The doctor holds the head of the patient so that it remains still. The patient is then asked to follow a certain moving object in slow motion. The object can be a light held in hand or some other object. The doctor may also ask the patient to move eyes between two separate targets. If there is any problem in the movement of the eyes, this can lead to headaches, blurred vision, and other types of problems.
Stereopsis Test
Eye Tests |
In this type of eye test, the patient is given a pair of 3D glasses to wear. The next step is that he has to see a book, which consists of different test patterns. There are four small circles in each pattern. The task of the patient is to check which circle is closest to his eyes. If the patient is able to identify the correct circle in each pattern, it means that eye teaming is good.
Retinoscopy In this type of test, the distance between the doctor and the patient is equal to the length of an arm. Dim lights in the room are switched on and the doctor uses an instrument for shining bright light into the eyes. This is a procedure, which tells the doctors whether the eyes have a cataract or not. Retinoscopy is also done to let the doctor know about the type of glasses or contact lens you need to use.
Refraction
This is the eye test, which a doctor uses to provide a prescription regarding eyeglasses. A phoropter is used for the purpose. The device is kept in front of the eyes and one eye is closed. This device allows the doctor to move lenses of different capacity. The same procedure will be applied to the other eye also.
These are some of the tests, which doctors perform in order to diagnose different types of eye problems and find a solution for it.
