Things you should know about a Concrete Saw

Concrete saw is a process of making holes with a premium quality robust tool that cuts through brick, concrete, asphalt, masonry, etc. Those of you associated with construction industry will understand the need of heavy cutting load.  Different construction projects have varied requirements that needs to be catered on time. These saws are also known as consaw, road saw, and slab saws.

What is concrete saw?

Concrete saws are powered by gasoline, and you can find some models with hydraulic and electric motor. You can use a concrete saw to cut the hard materials like, concrete slabs, tiles, asphalts, bricks and masonries. There are different types of concrete saws available in the market, such as walk-behind saws, chop saws and handheld saws. You can choose a concrete saw designed with a diamond blade, and you can cut the hard surfaces without spreading the dust and dirt.

2 Distinct Methods of Sawing Concrete:

There are two categories of sawing that is mostly used in constructions site. Tough textured brick, concrete slab or masonry is cut through these sawing methods as mentioned below:

Dry Sawing: This method is used in outdoor projects because the sawing can create a lot of dust that can make the interiors dusty. The blade used for this saw is usually made of diamond shape and it is known as diamond-blade saw. If you are concerned about excess dust accumulation, then opt for a diamond blade.

Wet Sawing: This is a more eco-friendly method that does not have any side-effects on your health. Unlike dry sawing there is more moisture in this technique that reduces the generation of dust. The diamond blades are of premium quality that has a longer service life. The moisture on the blade keeps the blade lubricated and cool.

Different Types of Concrete Saw:

There are different sized concrete saws available in the market on varied construction project. You can also choose a concrete saw according to their power sources. The most common categories of concrete saws are as follows:

Concrete Handsaw: This type of saw is ideal for smaller construction projects because it requires precision and greater mobility. These are easier to access compared to circular saws. It is a handheld saw that has less  horsepower.

Circular Saws: For larger projects you can use circular saws that help in cutting large volumes of concrete, and design it as per the need. This is really quick because it has a higher horse power. However, it is heavier than other concrete saws.

Gas-Powered Saws:  These saws are a popular choice amongst contractors because it is convenient, easy to use, and offers greater mobility. You can carry it anywhere you like with no hassles.  On the downside, these models of concrete saw demands more maintenance. As they generate more dust and fumes. These saws make a lot of noise compared to electric saws.

Electric Saws: Unlike gas-powered saws, electric-saws are slightly lower in power.  You need electricity to produce less dust and suitable for indoor cutting. If you are worried about its weight, then you can choose this saw. As it runs on electricity, and it does not require expensive replacement fuels.  You can save your fuel cost by choosing such concrete saws.

Choosing the ideal concrete cutting will depend on the nature of your project and your need. There is no point in purchasing a wrong concrete cutter as that can churn out a disaster recipe, and resulting in a severe structural damage to the concrete permanently. Some damages can be irreversible and leave a scar on the concrete. So, the selection process is vital to avoid any mistakes.
