All You Need To Know About Heating and Cooling System

With the change in season, the needs of people also change accordingly. There are many seasons in a calendar year, but winters and summers are the ones which can be distinctly identified. In summers, we need fans, coolers, air conditioners to keep our body temperature constant. In winters, the scenario completely changes, and room heaters, bonfires and warm blowers come into play. This heating and cooling during different seasons are needed to maintain a constant body temperature, so that we can do our daily jobs easily and effectively while staying comfortable.

For satisfying each purpose, a different system is used. Sometimes, a single system can handle the job of both heating and cooling. Let’s talk about a few systems most commonly used for such purposes.

System for Heating

There are many types of system used for heating the environment, but not all of them are do perform their intended task. Most of the machines run of electricity, and the heating effect is usually produced by passing high current through the metal wires which in turn emit heat. Room heaters perform quite well and do the job effectively, but the heating effect doesn’t last long and fades away as soon as the system is switched off. Lots of heat energy is lost in the atmosphere as it is not able to target to a specific place.

These heaters cannot be used for a long period as they are unsafe and quite expensive to install and operate. The modern method of heating which uses water as the substance of heating. It is very effective and simple and has gained immense popularity over the past few years. This method is called Hydronic heating system which involves heating with the help of boiling water passed through sealed pipes. These pipes deliver boiling water to radiators which emit heat. Hydronic heating is very effective because heat loss is very less as the pipes are installed behind the walls and under the floor.

Hydronic system can be used for both heating and cooling. Just the boiling water is to be replaced with cold water and it will in turn cool down the temperature of the air in the place. Over the next few years, this system is expected to completely replace water heaters, geysers and room heaters.

System for Cooling

There are mainly two types of systems that are used for cooling the air of a place. One is air cooler, that delivers a very simple system of cooling by blowing cool air. But it increases the moisture in the air inside the room and makes the environment uncomfortable. The air cooler has a rotating fan which sucks warm or hot air from the outside and gives out cool air. It has a layer of dried grass which is made wet by dripping water outlet. While sucking the hot air, the air passes through water and becomes cool. These air coolers do not work well in humid conditions because the cooling process involves water and not gas.

The second option of cooling is air conditioner. It provides best results in every condition, as it does not involve water in the cooling process. It is effective in taking away moisture from the air and making the environment pleasant. It uses a compressor and cooling gas which helps in cooling down the air being blown out. Air conditioners take in the moist air of the room and make it cool. Some air conditioners have the capacity of both heating and cooling the environment.

Conclusion

Engineers have made heating and cooling systems which can satisfy the needs of every human in different conditions. However, their purchase and operation turns out to be quite expensive. Scientists are doing great work to make new systems that can make heating and cooling more efficient, yet eco-friendly.
